Our Team

Adrienne Varner, Office Manager


Adrienne joined Gerety & Associates, CPAs in January 2007.  She handles the day-to-day operations of the Firm, manages the administrative team and provides support to the management team and staff.  She enjoys working closely within the management and administrative teams to provide the best client service possible.  Adrienne began her career in administration in the health care industry in 1995.  Upon moving to the Las Vegas area in 2001 she began working at an accounting firm where she worked closely with tax professionals and also supported the firm's recruiting team, then followed Dan Gerety when he opened his own firm several years later.

Born and raised in Utah, Adrienne attended Utah Valley State College.  Adrienne has four children and appreciates the flexibility, respect and work/life balance that really sets Gerety & Associates, CPAs apart from other companies, making it the best place to work.  When asked what sets Gerety & Associates, CPAs apart from other companies Adrienne states, “I believe if you treat your employees and clients like family good things will follow, which is why I love my job and the people I work with.  It’s a rare thing to find such loyalty and respect that I see at Gerety & Associates, CPAs on a daily basis.” 

Michelle Cox, Executive Assistant


Michelle Cox is an exceptional and welcome addition to Gerety & Associates, CPAs. She joined the firm in June 2012 and hit the ground running! Michelle began her career in 1997 with a savings and loan company where she worked as Branch Manager. She worked directly with clients to assist with mortgage loans and other financial needs. In 2006 she moved to the Las Vegas area where she worked as a personal banker with a national bank. As a mother, Michelle worked as a homemaker from 2008 until 2012, where she stayed busy raising her three children, hosting an international exchange student and volunteering for church and local schools.

Originally from Minnesota, Michelle moved to California where she attended Antelope Valley College. Her outside interests include family, traveling, camping and bowling. She volunteers with her church and in the community.

Michelle James, Executive Assistant


Michelle James joined the Gerety & Associates, CPAs team in August 2020. Michelle received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from McNeese State University in 1997. She moved to Las Vegas in 2006 after Hurricane Rita. Before joining the Gerety team, Michelle worked as an Executive Assistant for Boyd Gaming Corporation for 19 years assisting senior level executives.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Michelle’s family moved to Louisiana where she lived until 2001. She has three children and four grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, camping with her husband and dogs at national parks and lakes, reading and crafting.

Angelique Youngblood, Executive Assistant


Angelique joined Gerety & Associates, CPAs in November 2020.  She graduated from the College of Southern Nevada in 2015 with an AA and AS in Criminal Justice.  Angelique and her husband moved to Denver, CO to escape the heat and enjoy the snow.  While there, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology in 2020.

     

Angelique is a Las Vegas native and with the urging of her friends and family, she and her husband decided to move back.  In her free time, Angelique enjoys reading, playing her flute and spending time with friends and family.  She adores her niece and loves spending time with her and watching her grow.  She also loves to travel, with her favorite spot to stop being Disneyland.

Barbara Tihista, Receptionist


Barbara joined Gerety & Associates, CPAs in May 2022. Barbara joins the firm as the receptionist with great customer service and many years of administrative experience. She learned excellent customer service skills at Sears Reobuck and Company at age 16 and elevated to retail and restaurant management for 25 years. In 2004, American Premiere homes hired Barbara as an administrative assistant and she was given the opportunity to learn AP/AR, hard copy filing systems, human resources, and front desk reception skills.

Barbara was born and raised in Connecticut but has made Las Vegas her home since 1987. She has one son, and is expecting her first grandchild in September 2022.
